The Beautiful Beach on Okinawa Honto
Mibaru is a beach located near Nanjo city in the south-east of Okinawa Island, the main island of the subtropical archipelago in Japan. It is the best beach easily reachable from Naha.
Finding a beach 🏖 in Okinawa is not a challenge per se, but finding a good and nice beach might prove difficult and requires some preparation. Many beaches are semi-private and belong to resorts, others are so noisy that dolce far niente is out of the question. Beach-goers thus usually prefer enjoying smaller islands off to Okinawa (such as Zamami), with isolated beaches that are much quieter.
Beautiful beaches on Okinawa Honto (mainland) are not only scarce, but they are scattered across the island, incurring potential long car 🚙 travels. Thus there is about a hundred kilometers between Okuma, JAL airlines famous private resort located in the north, and Naha. Naha beach is not even to be considered as it is just a bunch of sand under a freeway without any view on the ocean!
Mibaru is the best beach quickly accessible from Naha. With a 1 kilometer long shoreline, its most beautiful part is set close to its entrance, in an area gathering several activities for visitors. Water sports are favored, with sea kayak, windsurfing and glass-bottom boat rides.
The beach can also be enjoyed sunbathing while admiring the paradise-like landscape of Mibaru. Nature has provided a large range of rocks formations, home to a beautiful flora and fauna, on the sand as well as under water.
